The camshaft drive chain is worn out

Normally a lenght expansion of the timing chain is compensated by  the chain tensioner.

If the tensioner is worn out or if the lenght of the chain is too long there won`t be enough tension on the chain. It is possible that the chain flashes over.

Result: The valve timing changes and in worst case there will follow an engine breakdown. To realise the dimension of the extend it is necessary to dismount the drive chain and compare this chain with a new one.

To my regret, I have no datas about the maximum lenght of the drive chain to give a wear out limit.
