Hello!
I am Henning Aka "Glen" from Stockholm Sweden!
I just got myself my sixth XL!
Just a month ago i had never heard of these other swedish guys here: Båten
and Pär!
Now, Pär came to my work chatting XL and i had to get me a XL500! Since
Båten is one of Pärs friends we soon met. They both assisted me in
buying this XL, and here we are a powerful trio under the almighty XL!
Before i send any pictures of my lovely XL i will have to reassemble the
engine. It made some whizzing sound so i exchanged every bearing in the
whole engine together with some other parts needing to be exchanged.
Here is a photo made from two different other photos giving an idea of
how my
machine looks! :)
To be heard of...
/Henning!
Hello!
Here is more for the XL500 page!
I now have reassembled my XL500SB.
The sounds coming from the engine are now gone. All bearings are new (very
much needed!), new camshaft and rocker arms.
Piston and cylinder were well within service limits, so were all other
service limits too. While the engine was apart i changed the oil pump
and
piston rings.
The bike has just above 37.000 kms on the meter. I have no reason to
belive
there is anything wrong with those figures.
When these shots were taken, i still had not added the engine protection
aluminiumplate or the bars for engine protection.
The seat and fuel tank is from the XL500R Paris Dakar-model. On picture
3
one can see the new fittings for the saddle just above the original
fitting
place.
The saddles front fitting is welded onto the frame in a way it is
possible
to re do the bike to original stand without too much effort.
While running the engine in after renovation i run it on Motul 3000
20W50
and will change to Motul 5100 during "first service".
Next project:
*I will try to fit the rear sidecovers from the XL500R.
*Change to "Chocolate bar style" rear tyre to match the front
tyre. Guess i
will have to pick Chen Shin due to the fact that Metzeler has cancelled
their production of these tyres.
*Find a silencer with a nice voice.
See you around!
/Henning from
Sweden!
